Sets, Reps, and Rest.

When it comes to fitness terminology it can all be a little confusing. I recall being totally lost when I first started.

Sets- what is a set? It is the number of rounds that you perform a certain exercise.

Reps- the number of individual times that perform that movement in a set. Ex. 4 sets of 8 reps. You would do the exercise for 4 separate "rounds" or "reps" and do 8 each time. LOL This is me using my plain English terms here..

Rest- exactly what it says..it's the period between each set that you rest for 30 secs to 2 minutes depending on your fitness goals. I actually prefer to do ACTIVE REST which is jumping rope, jumping jacks, squat jumps etc. for 30 secs to a 1 minute, again depending. I feel that active rest allows me to get the most out of my workouts by keeping my heart rate up since usually I'm crunched on time at the gym. Again, just personal preference.

Now, that you know some "fitness terminology" you're ready to hit the gym! ; )
